New Emerging Team Grants

CIHR's Institute of Neurosciences, Mental Health and Addiction in partnership with the Institute of Aboriginal Peoples' Health and the Institute of Human Development, Child and Youth Health is pleased to announce the results of Early Life Events and First Episodes of Brain Disorders.

  • A total of five New Discoveries - High Risk Seed Grants were received, of which two were approved for funding. [ HTML | PDF (82 KB) | Help ]
  • A total of fourteen New Emerging Team Grants were received, of which two were approved for funding. [ HTML | PDF (82 KB) | Help ]

The objectives of this initiative are:

  • To increase excellence of and capacity for research in the areas of early life events and first episodes of brain disorders in Canada;
  • To fund excellent research aimed at understanding the determinants of early life events and first episodes of brain disorders, and at improving the effectiveness of interventions;
  • To advance the use of a range of research methodologies as appropriate to the topics of investigation, including behavioural studies, program evaluation, participatory action research, genetic and population level analyses, etc.; and
  • To foster translation of knowledge to applications in prevention, treatment and other interventions for early life events and first episodes of brain disorders.
