CIHR researchers now able to deposit publications in PubMed Central Canada

(2010-05-17) Last October, CIHR announced the launch of the first element of the PubMed Central Canada (PMC Canada): a bilingual web interface that would allow people to search the contents of the US PubMed Central digital archive. Now CIHR researchers will able to contribute directly to this ever growing storehouse of health literature with the launch on April 28, 2010 of PMC Canada's manuscript submission system.

By using the manuscript submission system to deposit peer-reviewed journal articles in PMC Canada, researchers will have a method for complying with CIHR's Policy on Access to Research Outputs, which requires grant recipients to make their peer-reviewed journal articles freely accessible online within six months of publication. Articles deposited by CIHR researchers will automatically be added to the US PubMed Central archive, extending the reach of the research and helping facilitate collaboration with other researchers. As an added incentive, CIHR is giving away snazzy PMC Canada t-shirts to the first 100 researchers who deposit articles in PMC Canada.
